Eco Dyed Silk Ribbon
You'll love working with this gorgeous hand-dyed silk ribbon, perfect for weaving, crochet, jewellery making, gift wrapping and many fibre based craft projects.
Recycling pure silk wedding saris is a cottage industry run by women in villages around Bangalore, India. Each ball has it's own unique character, with varying textures and widths varying between 15-40mm with various sewn and tied joins.
Locally, the ribbon is slowly dyed by hand with plants and natural colour sources such as cochineal, prunus, avocado and ivy. Subtle, earthy tones are revealed with irregularities in colour throughout each ball, adding to the charm of their handmade nature.
Balls weigh 50 grams yielding approximately 15-25 metres of ribbon.
A unique gift or addition to your crafting stash.
Silk ribbon fair trade sourced from India, hand-dyed in Castlemaine by Elfin Trail.
