Natural Dyed Handwoven Cotton Scarves
$40.00
Subtle colours from nature captured in these light and breezy handwoven cotton scarves, a versatile addition to your wardrobe, transitioning smoothly between the seasons.
Botanically dyed by hand, a slow, multi-step process of preparing the fabric and extracting colours from locally foraged plants and extracts, in this case pomegranate, myrobalan and avocado.
Completely handmade, each scarf is unique, just as no two dye pots are the same, irregularities in texture and tone are part of their natural, handmade charm.
Choose from the following pieces in this collection:
#1 olive green (large) measures 27cm wide x 170cm long (plus fringe)
#2 grey (small) measures 22cm wide x 140cm long (plus fringe)
#3 olive green (small) measures 22cm wide x 140cm long (plus fringe)
#4 pale peach (small) measures 25cm wide x 140cm long (plus fringe)

These scarves are traditionally handwoven by the men of a small village on the island of Java in Indonesia. Using handmade wooden looms, the intricate openwork patterns have been handed down through the generations, father to son.
Hanks of fine 2-ply natural cotton thread are wound onto spools using old bicycle rims. The loom is then “dressed” a very time consuming process, before the fabric is woven by hand. Fair trade sourced, our purchase of these scarves contributes to the well-being of this Javanese village.
Natural colours evolve over time, as all things in nature do. Exposure to sun hastens the process.
Occasional hand-wash only, very gently, in cold water. Dry in shade.
Scarves can be refreshed with a plant-based dye bath or eco-print, please contact us if you need some help.
We do our best to represent these products accurately, but please allow for colour variations between monitors/screen.
