Mossi Indigo Cotton Stole No.3

$145.00

Beautiful deep indigo-dyed cotton cloth stole traditionally handwoven by the Mossi tribe.

A large, textural textile piece with exquisite depth of indigo and subtle resist pattern throughout. Traditionally used as a wrap, this generous and fringed piece would make a striking wall accent, partition curtain or couch throw.

The largest ethnic group of West Africa's Burkina Faso, the Mossi have ancient traditions in weaving with their hand-spun, indigo-dyed cloth reknowned worldwide. Women spin cotton into yarn, which is woven by the men using traditional horizontal looms. Narrow strips of cloth are sewn together then dyed with Yoruba or Indian indigo.

Uneven texture and colouring in an endless range of blues reflect the charm and uniqueness of each handmade piece.

Measures approx 190cm long x 115cm wide.

CARE
Please be aware naturally dyed indigo cotton is not generally 100% colourfast. Colour may transfer due to friction, sweat and rain during use. Occasional hand-wash only, separately, with a gentle soap product. Drain well, hanging immediately to dry naturally in the shade.

We do our best to represent products as accurately as possible, please allow for colour variations with screens and monitors.
