Cyanotype Sun Printing Paper
$25.00
Create your own original, nature-inspired blue and white artwork with this easy-to-use sun printing paper pack.
Sun-printing uses the cyanotype photographic printing process invented in 1842, where an emulsion is painted onto paper and exposed to the sun producing a rich cyan-blue print with white silhouette image.
Simplifying the process, this kit includes 12 sheets of 10x15cm watercolour paper, pre-coated with cyanotype sensitising solution, ready to use.
How to use: On a bright, sunny day, collect the plant specimens you wish to print, arrange them on the paper and cover with a sheet of glass. Place in a sunny spot. Watch the paper change colour in the sun's UV rays. After a few minutes, when it turns to slate grey, place in a tub of water and watch it turn to blue, then allow to dry.
A fun and educational activity for children. A wonderful way for all ages to connect with nature and explore their individual creativity. Display and frame your artworks, use them as greeting cards or perhaps to enhance journals and myriad papercraft projects.
Kit contains 12 sheets of handcut 10x15cm watercolour paper, hand-painted with cyanotype solutions, so each sheet is a little different. Instructions included.
For inspiration, explore the work of Anne Atkins who, in the mid 1800s, hand-printed several albums of botanical and textile specimens, effectively creating the world's first photographically-illustrated books.
