Botanical Dye Sashiko Threads

Rustic bobbins of sashiko thread, botanically dyed-by-hand to reveal our artisan range of gentle, natural colours.

Premium quality, 4-strand, Japanese Naska brand sashiko thread, slightly twisted, soft to touch with natural matte finish, presented on an old-school wooden dolly peg. 

Made from 100% premium cotton by Naito Shoji Co, designed to be used unravelled, giving excellent results in sashiko stitching, boro stitching and hand quilting.

Locally dyed-by-hand - a slow, multi-step process of preparing the fibres and extracting plant-based dyes, using foraged plants and extracts. 

Each bobbin is unique, as no two dye pots are the same, variegations in colour are part of their natural charm. Only one skein dyed at a time, so very small number of each colour  available - perfect for your next small-scale bespoke slow stitch project.

Sold individually, choose from a range of colours, titled by the plant material used to create them.

Natural colours evolve over time, as all things in nature do. Exposure to sun hastens the process.
