YAMATO Indigo Dye
$40.00
Yamato Indigo, an easy-to-use Japanese natural-blend indigo powder dye.
Suitable for natural materials, including cotton, linen, silk, leather, wood and washi paper, revealing a vibrant "Japan Blue".
With no heating or fermentation required, simply mix Yamato Indigo with water for an instant, ready-to-use dye for dipping. Perfect for shibori (tie-dye) and can also be used as a paint on wood or leather.
For dyeing, generally you will need 5% dye of the weight of fabric you are dyeing and you will need approx 3-5grams of indigo per litre of water, using enough water to allow items to be completely submerged. So, if your fabric weighs 500grams you will need 25grams of dye, mixed with 5-8 litres of water.
Made in Japan, Yamato Indigo powder consists of extracts from indigo plants, synthetic indigo, alkaline agent, and reducing agent.
