Seljak Recycled Wool Blanket : Moontide

$275.00 $329.00

Seljak Brand make luxurious, durable, recycled wool blankets for adventuring and homemaking and everything in between.  Sadly, in March 2024 Seljak announced they are closing their doors, so this is your last chance to invest in these beautiful pieces.

Australian made, the Moontide blanket is inspired by the way the moon reflects on the water, creating a pathway back to the horizon.  Perfect for indoors and out, take it picnicking, on an adventure or keeping cosy at home.

Sustainable, closed loop, ethically made of deadstock upholstery yarn at a mill in Geelong, Victoria.

Recycling wool is important because it’s too precious to throw in the bin. Wool is a natural fibre that is incredibly hard to replicate – it’s a renewable resource, it is odour and stain resistant, antibacterial, lightweight, breathable and insulating.

And for every blanket sold, Seljak donate $5 to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre helping people seeking asylum feel welcome, safe and supported in Australia.

Moontide blanket measures 180cm x 150cm / Whipstitch finish / 92% wool + 8% nylon

About Seljak

Established in 2016 by sisters Sam & Karina Seljak, Seljak Brand works to accelerate the transition to a more circular economy, engaging suppliers in Australia and Europe to weave recycled wool blankets that are recyclable at the end of their useful life.

This circular model diverts waste from landfill to create luxurious and useful blankets. Seljak Brand also participates in systems innovation, and educates and advocates for the circular economy and climate action.

After your blanket has enjoyed a long, adventurous life Seljak collect it free of charge using a carbon neutral courier service. If the blanket is still usable it's donated to the ASRC’s Material Aid program. If it's beyond usable its shredded and spun into new yarn to make future blankets.

Blanket Care

Because this is a naturally antibacterial product, the easiest way to clean your blanket is to air it out by hanging it in the sun. Spot clean dirty marks and spills with lukewarm soapy water. If necessary, machine wash at maximum 30 degrees with a wool wash and hang dry. Reducing machine washing extends your blanket’s life and reduces energy and water consumption.

What is deadstock yarn?

Mills are left with ‘deadstock’ yarn if it's over-ordered or their customers change their designs or quantities last minute. The yarn sits unused in the warehouse gathering dust and getting moth-eaten and eventually gets sent to landfill.

Made in Geelong, Victoria by Seljak Brand.
